Chocolate Nut Crust


1 1/3 Cups pies crust mix (1/2 of 11-oz package)

1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

3 Tbs HERSHEY'S Cocoa

3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts

1 Tbs water

1 Tbs vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla 

 

Directions:

Heat oven to 375o. In medium mixing bowl combine pie crust mix, sugar and cocoa. Stir in nuts. Combine water, oil and vanilla; drizzle over pie crust mixture while stirring with fork. (Mixture will be crumbly.) Press mixture evenly on bottom and up sides of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 15 minutes; cool.

 

Walnut Pie


3 eggs, slightly beaten

1 cup sugar

1 cup Karo, light syrup

2 tsp margarine or butter melted

1tsp vanilla

1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts

1 9" unbaked pie crust

 

Directions:

1.  Preheat oven to 350o

2.  In large bowl stir first 5 ingredients until well blended. Stir in walnuts. Pour into pie crust.

3.  Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. 

Makes 8 servings

 

Caramel Pie


Makes approximately four 10 - inch pies.

1 1/2 lb. granulated sugar

3/4 lb. brown sugar

4 cups water

1 qt. glucose (Karo Syrup)

 

Directions:

Bring to a boil; then add:  

1/2 lb. sifted all-purpose flour.

Stir with a whip until mixture returns to a boil. Cool; then add:  

2 cups beaten whole eggs

1/2 Tbs. maple syrup

1 cup chopped walnuts

 

Spread chopped nuts in bottom of unbaked pie shell (nuts will rise to the top!). Pour caramel mixture over nuts and bake approximately 40 minutes at 400o C until set.
